Direct Reduced Iron (DRI), also known as Sponge Iron, is a high-quality metallic iron produced by the direct reduction of iron ore using natural gas or non-coking coal. It is widely used as a clean and efficient raw material in steel-making processes such as Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) and Induction Furnaces (IF).

Ferrous sulfide, chemical formula FeS, dark brown or black block shaped crystals or particles, with large blocks having a metallic luster. The relative density is 4.74 and the melting point is 1193 ℃. Difficult to dissolve in water, easily soluble in dilute acid, releases toxic hydrogen sulfide gas. In humid air, it gradually oxidizes into ferric oxide and sulfur.
